MILITARY CQC: ” Taking your Knife Defense Training to the Next Level”
Author: Odhinn Kohout

UZIEL Fighting Systems and PDT-Tech have joined forces to share new training products in conjunction with combat ready CQC that you can incorporate directly into your current Military program.

In this week’s training BLOG we are using a marking knife to test the validity of our training tactics. The premise has three initial problems(on the surface) which must be overcome:

One-  Lack of space.
In reality lack of space should NOT be a consideration, but a given.. Assume nothing and plan for the worst case scenario possible.

Two-  Knife is in a difficult grip (inverted) position to counter.
Meaningless because you have no control over this variable so your training must include defensive attacks covering different styles of grips.

Three-  Attacker fakes the initial low stab to attempt and cut the throat.
A Boxer will use a jab to judge the correct distance between his opponents face and using the right cross to land a knockout punch. Why would this not be an ANTICIPATED tactic when facing a man holding a knife? You Attacker is a two handed fighter so COUNT ON him faking a low strike in order to setup a high target.

I have provided a picture from some recent video product testing giving a visual account of my explanation above. We were performing these tactics with considerable force for realistic results.

YES, I got cut…

NO, it was not to vital areas (bleeders) which would have led to significant blood loss. In a combat environment direct pressure on the received wounds to the outer forearm followed by a dressing would have been sufficient.

Train hard, and train for combat!
